ACTION REGULATION
The "touch" of a piano is an important element of piano maintenance. There are many adjustment screws and springs in a piano to maximize the control of the striking mechanism from the moment of key touch to release. These adjustments compensate for the wear of felt and buckskin pieces of the moving parts parts. Felt pieces can be worn to the point of needing replacement. Jay will guide you through all the options for restoring these worn parts and maintaining their proper regulation.
VOICING
The "tone" of the piano is determined by it's general construction, but, is most readily adjustable with the manipulation of the felt hammers and how they strike the strings. Hammer felt may be shaped, needled, treated with solutions and carefully mated to the string surface. These techniques when applied to your piano by an experienced technician can make a noticeable improvement in the way it sounds. And, as needed Jay can professionally install new hammers.
